X-Rays

X-rays are an essential part of any dental care treatment plan. They are diagnostic, but they can also be preventative, by helping a dentist diagnose potential oral care issues in a patient’s mouth before they become a major problem.

There is no need for concern about radiation from x-rays, at Divine Dental Centre we are very proud to be using the latest Planmeca state-of-the-art intraoral x-ray equipment that uses minimal radiation.

X-rays give a high level of detail of the tooth, bone and supporting tissues of the mouth, allowing our dentists to:

  • Find cavities
  • Look at the tooth roots
  • Check the health of the bony area surrounding the teeth
  • Diagnose periodontal disease
  • See the status of developing teeth
  • Monitor good oral health through prevention

X-rays are divided into two main categories, intraoral and extraoral.

An Intraoral X-ray is where the film is located inside the mouth and are the most common type of radiograph taken in dentistry and are the type which we take at Divine Dental Centre.

An extraoral X-ray is taken outside of the mouth and if you need to have one taken, our dentists will give you a referral to have one bulk billed through medicare.
