Dental Crowns

If you are experiencing a cracked or decayed tooth, a crown may provide an effective solution. Dental crowns serve to protect and preserve a weakened tooth, they restore functionality and look and feel completely natural.

Generally two appointments are needed for dental crown treatment as follows:

During the first appointment the tooth is filed or filled to the proper shape, then impressions of the tooth and surrounding teeth are taken. A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth until the crown is ready to be placed. Impressions are sent to a dental lab so the permanent crown can be made accordingly.

Once the crown has arrived back to our clinic from the dental lab, you will come in for your second appointment which involves removal of the temporary crown and replacement with the permanent crown which is positioned and fastened to the tooth with a special adhesive.
